Request Transcripts
- Northwestern University does not issue unofficial transcripts.
- All students and alumni are encouraged to go online to place their transcript order. This is the easiest and most efficient way to place an order for either a traditional paper transcript or the new electronic transcript delivery.
- No refunds will be issued once an order has been submitted. No transcript will be issued until payment is received.
- Transcript requests will not be processed for students with a transcript “hold” on their student record, or to a student who is delinquent in the payment of tuition or fees to the University.
- If you have attended multiple schools at Northwestern University, you will need to place separate requests with each school for your record (Please note that for students and graduates of the JD/MBA and LLM-K programs, all Law School and Kellogg courses will appear on your Law official transcript, and you do not need to order a separate transcript from Kellogg).

Electronic Transcripts
- Certified e-transcript delivery is available only to students who attended the Law School after August 2005.
- Certified e-transcripts are available for download (maximum of 5 downloads per transcript) for 30 days from date of issue.
- It is the responsibility of the transcript requestor to verify that the recipient accepts electronic transcripts before making a request.
- Cover letters and other forms cannot be included with e-transcripts. If you need to include other documents with your request, you will need to request a paper transcript.
- Certified e-transcripts are typically delivered within hours, except during times of scheduled maintenance or planned system outages.
- The fee for e-transcripts is $8 per copy.
Current Students: Access the online transcript request through CAESAR. Transcripts requests must be paid for with a credit card.
Former Students: Access the online transcript request through the Parchment Exchange system. The site will walk you through placing your order, including delivery options and fees. Order updates will be emailed to you, and you can check your order status and history. Your credit card will only be charged after your order has been completed.
Paper Transcripts
- Paper transcripts are the only option for alumni who attended the Law School prior to August 2005.
- The default mailing option for paper transcripts is USPS first class.
- FedEx is also available at an additional charge ($15 domestic; $30 international) and requires a physical address, as overnight carriers do not deliver to PO Boxes.
- Regular Service transcript requests are processed and mailed within 2 business days of receipt of request. For requests in December-January and April-May, please allow 5 business days.
- Immediate Service transcript requests received before 3pm CST are processed and mailed on the same day of receipt of request.
