There is no need to fear the Socratic method when you sit in on a class during Alumni Weekend! Class schedules will be available at the Alumni Registration Desk in the Atrium or you may view the fall course offerings online herePlease note: some classes may be removed from the listing distributed at registration due to cancellation, closed course activities and/or faculty request. 


11:30 a.m. | Alumni Awards Luncheon
Join us as we host the Law School’s 2nd Annual Alumni Awards Luncheon. The Awards Luncheon will give us an opportunity to acknowledge the significant impact our esteemed alumni make, not only on the Law School, but in the legal and business communities. Awards include the Distinguished Alumni, Volunteer Service, Emerging Leader, Dean’s Partnership, International Alumni and  Dawn Clark Netsch Awards. The luncheon will be held  Friday, September 19, at 11:30 a.m., at the University Club in downtown Chicago. Tickets are $75 each (tables of 10 can also be purchased) and all Law Community members are invited to attend. More information...

Noon| Global Café
Alumni of the LLM and LLM-K program are invited to join current students at our Global Café lunch. Share stories of your time at Northwestern Law and experiences since leaving campus. Hosted by the Office of International Programs.

Law School Tour
Meet in the Atrium near the registration tables to take a guided tour of the Law School with a Northwestern Law student, or pick up an information sheet from the registration table that describes key Law School classrooms and structures for a self- guided tour throughout the day.

1:30- 3:30 p.m. | LLM Career Panel
LLM alumni panelists Saurabh Nathany LLM ‘13, Luis Cortes Panameno LLM ‘13, Santiago Herrera LLM ‘13 and Shifang Guo LLM ‘13 will they discuss their job search experiences and share their personal career journeys.  Moderated by Natalie Bautista and co-hosted by the Center for Career Strategy and Advancement and Office of International Programs.

2:00-3:30 p.m | Women’s Leadership Coalition Alumnae Panel
Join Professor Carole Silver and panelists Jennifer Carlson JD '04, Michele Gemskie  JD '94, Nancy Gerry JD '90, Tamar Kelber JD '94, Terri Mascherin JD '84, and Tanya Menton JD '89 as they share experiences and offer practical tools for overcoming some of the common challenges women face in the legal profession.  A reception will follow. This event is co-hosted by the Women's Leadership Coalition (WLC). Approval pending for Illinois CLE Credit.

2–4 p.m. | Career Strategy Open House
Meet advisers and staff from the Center for Career Strategy and Advancement and learn more about resources and  information available to alumni. Please contact the Career Center at (312) 503-3498 or email career-strategy@law.northwestern.edu for additional information or questions.

3–4:15 p.m. | Young Alumni Career Panel
This moderated discussion features young alumni who have recently changed careers, either within the same practice or outside their field. Panelists will share their experiences and tips on how you can navigate your own career change.

3–4:15 p.m. | Supreme Court Roundup
This panel featuring will address important decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court from the 2014 term and a look ahead to 2015. This event is co-hosted by the Northwestern Law Review Journal. Approval pending for Illinois CLE Credit.

3–4:15 p.m. | Northwestern Law and Entrepreneurship
Alumni panelists will share their experiences and discuss the Law School's impact on their entrepreneurial endeavors. Approval pending for Illinois CLE Credit.

4:30–5:30 p.m. | Conversation with Dean Rodriguez
During this question and answer session, Dean Dan Rodriguez will share his thoughts about the future of the Law School and will welcome a discussion among the alumni community on the myriad challenges facing law schools today.

4:30–5:30 p.m. | Student Networking Workshop
During this workshop, learn best practices for building and stabilizing business relationships through effective networking and communication. Participation in the workshop is required for all students attending the evening community reception.

5:30–7 p.m.| Law School Community Reception
Enjoy festive music and food while you catch up with former classmates and professors. Mingle with student leaders, both past and present, to learn about how student groups have changed and evolved over the years.

5 – 7 p.m. | Tax Ethics CLE Session
During this CLE session, panelists will discuss ethical issues in tax practice. A reception will follow. (Approval Pending for Illinois Professionalism Credit.)

5:30–7 p.m.| Clinic Open House
Please join Director Tom Geraghty, JD '69, clinic faculty, students, and fellow alumni to celebrate the Bluhm Legal Clinic's commitment to clinical education, public interest work, and to the Law School community.

10 a.m. | Museum of Contemporary Art Guided Tour
Spend the afternoon touring one of the nation's largest facilities devoted to hosting the most thought-provoking art since 1945.
Location: Museum of Contemporary Art

10:30 – 11:30 a.m. | Collective Bargaining and College Athletics
Panelists will discuss the legal issues and implications of the unionization of college athletes.

11:00 | Golden Reunion Rare Books Presentation
Classmates from 1954, 1959 and 1964 are invited to a special Rare Books Presentation with Professor Emily Kadens.  

Lawyers have from their earliest existence worked in a culture of the book.  Displaying some of the fantastic treasures in the Law School’s rare book collection, Professor Emily Kadens will tell the story of the history of law through the books lawyers used.  Following the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to take an up-close look at many of the Law School’s rare books.

11:30-12:30 p.m. |  Legal Education in 2024
Panelists will discuss the developing trends and the future of legal education. 

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Northwestern Law and the International Landscape
Join faculty members for a discussion on how Northwestern Law is expanding its outreach in a time of globalization. 

11:30 a.m. | Class of 1954 & 1959 Luncheon
Classmates from 1954 and 1959 are invited to celebrate their 55th and 60th reunions at a private luncheon.

Join us for a casual cookout in the courtyard! This family-friendly event will feature BBQ fare, music and kid’s activities. This event is co-hosted by the Northwestern Law Alumni Club of Chicago.

2 p.m. | Historic Macy’s Store Tour
Take a guided tour of Macy’s on State Street, originally Marshall Fields, and learn how Macy’s has grown to be America’s largest department store, with over 800 locations and more than 150 years of retailing history. Tour highlights include the breathtaking Tiffany vaulted ceiling, the graceful Burnham fountain, world-renowned Walnut Room, and a taste of our famous Frango® Mint Chocolates. Each guest will receive a Macy’s Visitor Savings Pass.
