Northwestern Law Alumni Club of NYC Alumni Speaker Series

The Northwestern Law Alumni Club of New York City invites you to an Alumni Speaker Series featuring Richard Bernstein JD ’99 on Thursday, August 7th.

Blind since birth, Richard graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan and earned his Juris Doctor at Northwestern Law in Chicago. In this presentation, Richard will share his inspiring story, speak about the impact of Americans with Disabilities Act, and explore the topics of reaching potentials, defining what is possible, and breaking down stereotypes. There will be an opportunity for questions as well as networking.

Biography:
Attorney Richard Bernstein established and leads the Public Service Division of The Sam Bernstein Law Firm in. The Public Service Division has fought and won landmark civil rights claims for the disabled in courts across the nation. Under Richard’s leadership, the Public Service Division has never charged any client a fee for this work.

In his spare time, Richard has been an avid runner, completing 18 marathons – including eight New York City marathons – the full Ironman triathlon in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2008 and the Israman triathlon’s half Ironman in Eilat, Israel in 2011. He also co-hosts a one-hour legal radio show called “Fighting for Justice” on WCHB-AM (1200) in Metro Detroit. Read his full biography here.
