Northwestern Law Alumni Speaker Series: Jon Vegosen JD '76

Practicing Law While Pursuing Your Passion

Onsite Registration is Available!

If you have a passion that you want to pursue while you are practicing law, you don’t have to abandon it.  Whatever your passion, and whether or not you play tennis or any other sport, you will find this presentation by Jon Vegosen enlightening and engaging.  Jon Vegosen WCAS '73, JD '76, is the co-founder of Chicago corporate and litigation law firm Funkhouser Vegosen Liebman & Dunn Ltd., and the 2011-2012 Chairman of the Board and President of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Jon will share his story and pathway -- how he has been able to practice law while pursuing his passion for tennis and, ultimately, lead the USTA as its Chairman and CEO.  Jon will then discuss a fascinating case study of how the USTA has reinvented tennis to attract a new and younger generation of players from diverse backgrounds and grow the sport.  Jon will explain the development and execution of the USTA business strategy and how the USTA has successfully partnered with industry, coaches, players, celebrities and others to achieve this successful reinvention.  Jon will also provide a brief overview of the forthcoming $500 million renovation, including a roof, of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and share an entertaining US Open highlights video.  Finally, Jon will answer your questions.

Students and alumni are invited to attend this presentation. There will be a reception immediately following.
