Northwestern Law Alumni Club of NYC Faculty Presentation (Cancelled)

We apologize that this event has been cancelled. Please stay tuned for information on future NYC Alumni Club Events.

The Northwestern Law Alumni Club of New York City invites you to attend a presentation entitled "Pirate Prosecution Paradoxes" with Professor Eugene Kontorovich on March 26th.

Presentation Description: Professor Kontorovich will discuss the paradigmatic international crime of piracy. At a time when international law has reached new levels of maturity, maritime piracy continues to frustrate efforts at law-based solutions. Many pirates are caught, but few prosecuted. And those that do face trial, may not mind. At the same time, practical solutions like self-defense by endangered ships face numerous legal obstacles.

Presenter: Prof. Kontorovich’s areas of expertise are constitutional law, international law, and law and economics. He is currently working on a book entitled, “Justice at Sea: Piracy and the Limits of International Criminal Law.” To read Prof. Kontorovich’s biography, click here.
